More or less Patient?

My son, Sawyer, is two and a half years old, and he is wild man. There is one speed, full speed! He loves to run, not walk. When he sings it has to be loud, very loud! If we drive in the car for more than five minutes, he often falls asleep. Why? I think the boredom of sitting still drives him nuts, so he submits to sleep.

With a child that lives life at 120 miles per hour my wife and I have to parent at 121 miles per hour. This raises a question for me. Well, it actually raises endless questions, but there is one particular question that sits at the front of my brain: Does this help me to become a more or less patient person? You see, when I am with Sawyer everything is moving in light speed, and if the stars haven't aligned that particular day my patience light begins flashing quite quickly. But, if I am around other people they just seem to be moving in non-little, animal boy speed, and my patience light seems to malfunction. When I'm at the grocery store, maybe I'll stand in the longer line so I can study all the different kinds of minty gum, that way I'll make the best choice for my breath.

Have I lost my mind, or gained more of it?

From your sister-in-law who has seen you and Sarah in FULL-Parent mode... I believe it has made you more patient, and only more prepared what might be to come. Seeing Sawyer in FULL-speed little boy mode, I know there is more to come. Scary thing maybe, but Sawyer is the luckiest kid in the world to have parents like you.
